MORGANITE ENGAGEMENT RINGS FACT FILE
If there’s one gemstone that has set imaginations alight and tongues wagging in recent years, it’s morganite. This unusual, rare gemstone has caught the attention of several high-profile designers over the past decade, and Braverman Jewelry is proud to join the ranks of quality jewelers now offering morganite engagement rings to our savvy and trendsetting customers.
Morganite, like emerald and aquamarine, is one of the beryl family of gemstones. It displays a soft, pretty and very feminine peachy, pinkish hue, and a warm brilliance that makes it a wonderfully inspired replacement for diamonds. Little wonder, then, that morganite rings have become so sought-after and desirable!
QUALITIES OF MORGANITE
According to legend, morganite is a gemstone associated with divine love, guidance and compassion. As a result, it is a wonderfully fitting gemstone to have set in a ring, to be presented to the woman you love and wish to sail through life alongside.
While it hasn’t been given an official industry-accepted grading system, morganite is graded according to a natural AAA/AA/A rating - a system typically used with gemstones - in order to keep things simple for our valued customers.
As far as other properties go, morganite is a very hard gemstone, with a hardness rating somewhere between 7.5 and 8 on the Mohs hardness scale. As such, it is a durable gemstone, and perfect for daily wear in a beautifully made engagement ring.
JUDGING MORGANITE
When it comes to sorting and judging morganite, jewelers are essentially looking at one factor above all others: colour. This is a gemstone which is sought-after for a particular hue - a luscious, pinkish rose petal colour - and it is these examples which are going to be most highly prized.
While morganite comes in an array of tones, ranging from the palest pink to a deeper salmon shade, it is the rose tint which is by far the most popular and fashionable at present.
As far as inclusions go, morganite will usually features some very slight flaws and inclusions. However, as a rule these inclusions will not really be visible to the naked eye, and the vast majority of morganite engagement rings will be eye-clean and gorgeously lustrous, thanks to the skilful work of our expert jeweler.
PREPARING MORGANITE ENGAGEMENT RINGS
One point which we would like to make clear when it comes to morganite engagement rings, is that morganite is a gemstone which is commonly heat treated by jewelers. This treatment enhances the natural pink tones of the gemstone, and makes it even more beautiful and eye-catching.
It’s worth mentioning that this kind of heat treatment is an industry standard when it comes to morganite, and treated gemstones of this type are by no means less valuable than natural morganite gemstones. We are happy to offer non-treated morganite too, should our customers prefer it.
Of course, morganite gemstones are also cut before being set in a beautiful engagement ring. Cuts which are designed to enhance the natural beauty, sparkle and scintillation of these delicate pink gemstones, and which make them appear larger.
OTHER MORGANITE FACTS
Morganite is actually found in several parts of the world. Morganite deposits have been discovered everywhere from Russia to Mozambique, and from Afghanistan to the USA. However, the biggest deposits of morganite were discovered in Brazil and Madagascar, which is where the majority of the world’s quality morganite comes from.
This stunning pink gemstone is the result of millions of years of tectonic activity, and is often found in quite large-sized rocks. As a result, the carat weight of a morganite gemstone does not have much of an impact on the price of a piece of morganite jewelry - we always advises customers to opt for a big morganite gemstone, as this will display those unique and unforgettable colours more effectively.
WHAT DO THE MOST POPULAR MORGANITE ENGAGEMENT RINGS LOOK LIKE?
As morganite engagement rings have become more popular, we have been able to track and recognise certain trends arising in the types of morganite rings which sell better than others. It has become apparent that certain cuts of morganite are considerably more popular than others, most notably emerald cut and cushion cut morganite gemstones, both of which have an elegance which is simply unforgettable.
Another highly popular choice for a morganite engagement ring is the oversized oval gemstone. This is an especially dazzling choice, as the size of the morganite allows that unique rose-petal hue to really make a bold impact, and the gentle shape of the gemstone complements elegant, feminine tapered fingers most impressively.
Of course, no mention of morganite engagement rings could pass without some thought given to the precious metal most suited to this gorgeous gemstone: rose gold. Morganite and rose gold are a marriage made in heaven; the delicate, pinkish hue of the gold pairing magnificently with the rose-blush sparkle that morganite provides so flawlessly.
Indeed, the metal will bring out the dazzling colour of the gemstone with more intensity, and should you want to go all the way, why not add some accent diamonds to either side of that large morganite gemstone, to make your ring the real envy of your friends?
CARING FOR MY MORGANITE ENGAGEMENT RING
Morganite is a hard and durable gemstone, and as a result, it requires really very little extra care. However, as we tell all of our customers, in order to maintain its sparkle and brilliance, your morganite engagement ring will require a slight clean now and again, in order to remove that daily buildup of dirt and grime.
A soft cloth, some warm water and soap will do the trick just fine, and you shouldn’t require much more than this at all. Make sure you remove your morganite ring when you are working with harsh chemical cleaning products, and when you’re not wearing it, slip it into a soft cloth bag, or keep it in its display box where it will be safe and won’t scratch any other item of jewelry.
