ETERNITY RINGS
Rings are truly special - this is something on which we can all agree.
There aren't many moments in life as memorable as a proposal of marriage (whether you are a man or a woman), or a wedding, and both occasions are marked, celebrated and given symbolic power through the exchange of a carefully chosen engagement ring or wedding band.
Nowadays, a third type of ring - the eternity ring - is becoming increasingly commonplace, and these rings are also being used as the perfect item with which to commemorate a special moment.
Because we love rings and all they symbolize so much (and we know that you do too), we have decided to look into engagement rings, wedding rings and eternity ring a little further.
Let's examine their significance and cultural background, and take a moment to think about what they represent. Perhaps this will help us to better understand them, and to help us make the best selections when buying one for the people we love the most.
WHAT IS AN ETERNITY RING?
If you've marked your engagement and marriage with the exchange of a ring, how do you celebrate some of those other key moments in life?
The answer has come in the form one of the latest fashions when it comes to high quality jewelry: the 'eternity ring'. These rings - often referred to as 'dress rings' - tend to be beautiful solid bands, usually set with diamonds or other gemstones.
It has been customary for some time now to present eternity rings as an anniversary gift.
They are also a wonderful - and increasingly traditional - gift for husbands to present to their wives on the occasion of the birth of their first child.
However, the idea seems to be that these stunning and elegant rings are designed to commemorate something which is special to the couple, something which represents a change as significant as a marriage, and something which they will never forget.
WHERE SHOULD I WEAR MY ETERNITY RING?
We understand that when it comes to rings, our customers love following the traditions which featured in their parents', grandparents' and ancestors' marriages.
Because of their relative modernity, eternity rings aren’t bound by the same traditions as wedding bands and engagement rings. While this does give you some freedom to come up with your own, personalized custom, it can cause people some confusion if they (quite understandably) cannot bear to be without all three at the same time.
Many people are happy to wear their eternity ring on the same finger as their engagement and wedding rings, but some people may find it uncomfortable or impractical to wear three rings together.
The obvious solution to this conundrum would be to wear your eternity ring on the ring finger of your other hand, which can give a pleasing, balanced appearance and allows the eternity ring to shine on its own.
Of course, the decision of where to wear your eternity ring is entirely up to you, and your comfort should absolutely be kept in mind when making this choice.
